Can a Pinellas private school student dual enroll at St. Petersburg College?
Yes. SPC's dual enrollment page lists students in grades 6-12 at Pinellas public schools, private schools and home-education programs as eligible, provided they meet the GPA and placement-test requirements.
Private school students work with their counselor to complete SPC's Private School Agreement form, which the counselor sends to a dual enrollment office. Home-education students go straight to a dual enrollment office to build a schedule.
What does it cost?
SPC states there are no costs for application, tuition or required textbooks for Pinellas students taking courses on SPC campuses.
Ask your private school whether it charges anything on its side, such as a counseling or course fee, and whether a course taught at the school instead of on an SPC campus is handled differently.
What grades does SPC look for?
For academic courses SPC asks for a 3.0 unweighted GPA, cumulative or in the subject, and 2.0 for career courses, along with placement scores.
Students then need a 2.0 college GPA to stay in the program.
